Message from the Clerk of Court

As clerk of court it is my privilege to serve as the chief administrative officer for the Southern District of Iowa. The clerk’s office is staffed with dedicated and talented people whose mission every day is to provide the highest level of service and professionalism to all in support of the delivery of justice. Our work is often performed behind the scenes, but helps the public, attorneys, and judges to get cases heard and assures that justice and our constitution are being served. We manage information technology, human resources, facilities, procurement, finance, budgeting, and other support functions, which are all necessary infrastructure to operating the federal court system. In addition, we fulfill statutory and constitutional duties such as providing lawfully selected jurors and maintaining the official court records and case files. Above all, the court belongs to the public and we strive every day to create an open, accessible forum where disputes are resolved and where you are welcome to see and learn about the federal court system. This website is one example of our efforts to provide easy access to current information about our court, our cases, and our operations.
I am always interested in comments from the public and court users about how we can continue to improve. Please contact me directly at 515.323.2865, or
